  • Is it CG?

No this is not strict CG (read on) however some consider it to be CG friendly.

This product contains sodium lauroyl methyl isethionate, The original curly hair 'rules' pioneered by Lorraine Massey and on which the modern CG method is based stated "Look for sulfate-free products only. Detergents frequently found in shampoo are sulfates such as sodium lauryl sulfate (the harshest), ammonium laureth sulfate (also harsh), and sodium laureth sulfate (harsh). Always check the ingredients list on the product to make sure none of these detergents are included.”

Whilst sodium lauroyl methyl isethionate is not a sulfate (although its name is very similar to many sulfates), it is a detergent. Many online communities devoted to the method have adopted stricter rules that forbid either ALL detergents (the co-wash only groups) or sulfates plus some other detergents.

Our stance is that we MUST give you all the available information and then we leave the choice of use up to you. Regardless of your CG stance, products that contain sodium lauroyl methyl isethionate should be used with caution as some curlies may find them drying whilst others may have no issue.

This product does contain Biotin, Panthenol, Lactic Acid, Vitamin B5, Protein, & Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine however these are not sourced from animals and have been Certified Vegan.

  • Benefits of black seed oil

Black seed oil (Nigella sativa) contains antioxidants and bioactive compounds. It may benefit skin and hair health, help reduce inflammation, and support weight loss.

Black seed oil is an herbal ingredient derived from the plant Nigella sativa, which is native to Eastern Europe and Western Asia.

Known for its powerful medicinal properties, black seed oil is a natural remedy that people use to treat a wide range of conditions including:

    • headaches
    • back pain
    • high blood pressure
    • infections
    • inflammation

It also offers a long list of science-backed health and beauty benefits, thanks to its content of antioxidants and other bioactive compounds. Research has shown that it contains components that may:

    • help reduce acne
    • help treat psoriasis
    • promote wound healing
    • support hair health
    • help treat vitiligo
    • help reduce inflammation
    • help reduce eczema

Some research shows that black seed oil could benefit skin conditions such as acne. This may be due to the antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties associated with black seed oil.

One study found that using a topical gel made with black seed extract twice daily for 60 days reduced acne severity by 78%. Researchers noted significant improvement in the number of acne lesions compared with a control group.

Studies suggest that black seed oil could reduce inflammation and other symptoms of psoriasis.

Black seed oil contains a compound called thymoquinone, which may stimulate tissue growth and promote wound healing.

Studies have found that thymoquinone may help treat burns, excisions, and diabetic wounds due to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial effects.

Thanks to its antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, black seed oil is often added to hair care products, including hair masks and shampoos.

Though many of these products claim to improve the shine, strength, volume, and texture of hair, there is little research on the benefits of black seed oil for these applications.

Some research suggests that black seed oil could be beneficial for treating vitiligo, a disorder that causes loss of pigmentation in the skin.

One study in 33 people with vitiligo found that applying a cream made with black seed oil to the skin twice daily improved pigmentation in the hands, face, and genital region after 6 months.

Researchers suggest that the benefits of black seed oil may be due to its ability to spread melanin within the skin. Melanin is a type of natural pigment found in your hair, skin, and eyes.

Several studies have found that black seed oil could alleviate symptoms of eczema, a skin condition characterized by dry, itchy skin.

One small 2012 study found that black seed oil was as effective as betamethasone cream, a type of corticosteroid, at reducing hand eczema severity of hand eczema when applied topically twice daily for 4 weeks.

Another study found that oral and topical administration of thymoquinone, a compound found in black seed oil, decreased inflammation and improved symptoms of eczema.

Does black seed oil grow hair? Black seed oil is often an ingredient in shampoos and hair masks, as it has antimicrobial and antioxidant properties that may help support your overall hair health. However, evidence does not suggest that it grows hair.

  • Directions

Massage a generous amount of the shampoo directly into wet scalp and hair. Ensuring to work into the entire length.

    • Pairing this product with Bounce Curl Super Smooth Cream Conditioner for best results.
